Stitchy Box Review

This is my personal opinion of Stitchy Box after seeing several people on floss tube purchasing stitchy box. I decided that i would buy one. So I signed up to the Christmas box and the four special ones next year Valentines Day, Patriotic box Halloween and Christmas. I did this before I had received my first box.

The price of the box is $40 dollars or £32 it was a bit expensive but I waited for quite a while before my items to arrive in the UK.

Big Picture Box is for those who prefer lower counts of fabric. You can choose 1 Fat 8th or 2 Fat 16ths from the following: 14-16 count Aida, 28-32 count linen, or 28-32 count evenweave.

I received two small pieces of fabric worth about £2.99 each

^ Skeins of thread worth around £7.50

Two small charms worth £2

and some sort of other thread about £1.50

Items total £16.94

The postage on this cost me £15.02 extremely expensive even if it did come from the USA.

I wasn't impressed with the items I received because I knew I could have bought everything in it for less money.

I am all for using your own imagination and putting various items together to make something new. But this was definitely not worth it in my opinion.

When I tried getting a refund on the unsent Christmas Box and the Next year's Boxes and a normal stitchy box It was extremely hard as the site only gives you 48 hrs to get a refund. This is all very well but as it took two months to get the initial box then it is impossible to know that you like or don't like them based on others opinions only. Until you see it for yourself.

I have received a refund for the large boxes but for the normal stitchy box I haven't apparently it has been sent but my bank has no record of such a refund coming back to my card and it would have shown up by now.

In a way it has been a lesson not to be swayed by others opinions on stitching things and I had to see it for myself to know I didn't like it and it wasn't worth what I paid out for it,

You will have to make your own mind up, just because I don't like it doesn't mean you won't. I will also be careful of anything which charges extortionate postage cost when it cost about $7 to post to me in the U.K

  1. I'm so sorry to hear you weren't happy. However your math is WAY off on the cost.

If you bought the items individually from the designers and Sew and Sew (since you're in the U.K.) you would have spent £31.57 vs the £30.23 from StitchyBox. Additionally, shipping would have been considerably more since no one shop offers all the same items.

You received full skeins of the flosses. Breaking them down:
    Baroque Silk £3.68 (US only)
    Weeks Dye Works £1.99
    Valdani £2.49
    Ship's Manor £4.33 (US Only)
    Gentle Arts £2.15
    Kreinik Silk Mori £2.99

That's hardly the £7.99 you claim.

Fabric wise you got two Fat 1/16ths. This was a bit tricky since most dyers don't sell less than 1/8 so I had to half the price of a Fat Eighth (or in the case of Silkweaver work off a Fat Quarter)
The best I could find for both were in the US.
    Silkweaver £4.50
From the Cauldron/Dames of the Needle £6.54

I'm sure they would love to know that you think they're only worth £2.99 each.

The "other thread" comes from Lady Dot Chenille and is also Hand Dyed. It's £4.90. Not £1.50.

I couldn't price the charms that was more headache than I chose to deal with. But all told that's £31.57 vs the £30.23 from StitchyBox and not counting shipping.

Now, you probably should have waited to get your first box before doing a bigger subscription. Certainly there are always people who drop out and you can get back in with no issues. That being said, refund processing can take time. Depending on the bank and how long items take to process including weekends, holidays and even the time the refund was submitted. Frequently banks don't have information until an item is received. Additionally if you made the purchase on a card that isn't with that bank, then they won't have any record of it. The credit card will.

Maybe you should reevaluate the costs and redo this post because honestly, you've just been caught not doing research and potentially hurting a business without good cause. I'm sorry you're unhappy but the blame does not lie with StitchyBox.

    1. If i had used a large stitch shop for my prices then I would be wrong but as i know and have bought weeks dyeworks and other threads for £1.50 i have done my research into prices, from the shops I buy from. I rarely use big stitch shops and prefer to use independents.
The card used was my actual bank debit card and so yes they would have a recorded of the refund by now as they have told me that it appears in my bank account.
a day after the refund was recieved by my bank.

I have had a hard time getting a refund and the words used on one of my refunds isn't at all polite or how you treat customers at all.
I have said this is my opinion on Stitchy Box and I was at fault for purchasing it and wasteing my money. You I know enjoy them i dont and was voicing my opinion and my experience of getting a refund. we must agree to disagree.

    2. Even if you had purchased the threads available in the U.K. At a slightly lower price than Sew and Sew, you would not have come out much cheaper overall. It was a gross exaggeration to say the Fabrics were only worth £2.99. And what I quoted doesn't take into account the time spent ordering, organizing and then packaging the boxes. Surely that's at least with £5 minimally. And regardless, the US Only items likely would not be cheaper (especially Ship's Manor or the fabric.

And if the refund hasn't hit your bank yet, it still isn't likely the fault of StitchyBox. I work in a bank and I've seen weirdly long times on refunds.

  2. I second this post. I've once tried to join her club. Paid and never got my clubs (was in more 1 club). I've waited for my first club and had contact her about this. She was rude and refunded me and yet block any of her customers off her not to buy list. So I would not recommend. The way I see, if you request for a refund, your automatically on the do not sell list. It's a funny way to keep the shop going. But I wouldn't waste my money on it. I have joined many clubs and never did I pay so much for it like hers. Good luck. Ps I feel the commenter above must be close to her to know so much and such.

  3. Y'all, I purchased a box back in January (that honestly I shouldn't have been able to since it was supposed to ship out 3-4 months prior) and I still haven't gotten it almost 7 months later. It's working on a year total since this box should have shipped. Getting ahold of her? Good. Luck. Attitude when she does respond? Total. Crap. I paid significantly more for my box than y'all, $88 USD, and I'm pretty much up shhh creek with it.
